Mercer Island: Luther Burbank Park ★☆☆☆☆

Mercer Island: Luther Burbank Park ★☆☆☆☆

There are some accessible parking spots near the entrance. Restrooms were in poor condition and the male restroom was missing a louver in an opening that looked directly onto the urinal from the outside. There is some shade but the majority of the playground is in the sun. There are no covered areas but some picnic tables near the playground had large umbrellas. The playground surface was rubber and concrete with a lot of engineered wood fiber for the zip line and swings. There was only one accessible entrance to the playground area and the swings were not accessible from the playground area and required going up and around and continuing on a gravel pathway. The swings were entirely in engineered wood fiber and had a tall wood curb around the perimeter. There was only one inclusive swing in this area. There was no continuous elopement barrier in place and some parts of the play area seemed fairly steep or rough for younger users. The route to the waterfront is fairly steep and the park could use some improvements throughout.
